Call on the Great Congregation for praise 

Though the shortest of the collection of psalms, yet it has a long view of the future. For in two verses it embraces the Gentile people. It looks forward to the nations of the earth praising the Lord. This worldwide motivation to celebrate is caused by the experimental knowledge of the kindness and truth of God. The truth of the true and living God would be propagated and preached to the ends of the earth, and thus the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man would appear. And so it has come to pass, writes Paul, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.” Such grace should encourage us to join the Psalmist in his concluding Hallelujah.
