What is Truth?

This week has seen an historic battle between the government and the BBC. Lord Hutton’s inquiry report came out and exonerated the government, and caused the resignation of the Director General and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the BBC, and also the journalist involved.

The common people, though, are of the opinion that it was an unjust finding, and they mainly support the BBC. But as the arguments continue we are reminded of Pilate’s question, “What is truth?” The truth is always the first casualty in war, but as both sides continue to present their arguments and counter arguments, one wonders what goes on behind the public declarations.

There is an old saying that truth will shout. But even if it will not be shouted from the housetops, we know that there is a day coming when the secrets of all hearts will be revealed. The Christian at least, has this consolation to content him in the midst of a wicked and perverse generation.
