Time is Short

George Whitefield was a remarkable man. Not only were his preaching gifts amazing, but also his catholicity of spirit, and his constitutional strength were tremendous. I do not suppose in the history of the world, there has been another with such a voice that could address a forty thousand congregation, and without a microphone. Preaching two or three times a day, and riding ten, twenty, thirty miles between meetings, he would have to lie down after the sermon of one or two hours in length. But his calling was so urgent upon him that he would not waste a minute of time. This was particularly true in his visits to America, and during the period of twenty-four years of age to thirty.

Someone has written, “I have wasted time, but now doth time waste me.” Our Lord said, “Work while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work.” If age is on your side, then maximise it. Use every available moment to improve your soul, and the souls of others. Time is short.
