Thanks!

Thanks! Its dictionary definition is, an expression of gratitude. There are many ways of offering this. For instance we generally vocalise it, and thank for something done or given to us by saying, “You are so kind, thank you very much.” Or on the other hand, one can put pen to paper and send a fuller expression such as, “The concern and love you showed during my recent troubles, meant so much to me, that I thought to write and thank you personally.” Then occasionally if one does a kindness for someone, unexpectedly the recipient will return a little wrapped gift to express their gratitude. Then there are some people who are more outgoing, and will give a hug and a kiss, and with undisguised joy, gush, “Oh thank you, thank you for being such a help.”

But a difficulty arises when a kindness is done anonymously. How to convey one’s thanks in that situation cannot be vocalised or written, when one is ignorant of the bestower. The only answer then, is to bring it to God in prayer and say, “Thou knowest Heavenly Father who has done this, because it is thou who hast placed it in their hearts. Although I cannot thank them, thou canst bless them.”

We should volunteer thanks more readily and lovingly. But especially to the Lord for all His loving kindnesses. Paul was very quick to do so. “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.” And again, “Giving thanks always for all things unto God.” Or, “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Our prayers should be filled with abundant expressions of our gratitude for all His goodness unto us.
